Ho Chi Minh City ensures measurement work in petroleum business in the area
On April 26, 2024, at the headquarters of the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality, the Workshop "Ensuring measurement in petroleum business in Ho Chi Minh City" took place. The workshop was organized by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality (SMQ, under the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City).


Speaking at the opening of the Workshop, Ms. Vo Dinh Lien Ngoc - Deputy Director of SMQ Branch said that measurement activities play a particularly important role in social life, production activities, scientific research, and security and national defense. Consistent and accurate measurement contributes to safety; protect people's health and protect the environment; promote the development of science and technology; enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of state management and is an effective tool contributing to socio-economic development and international economic integration.

Specifically, on August 10, 2018, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 996/QD-TTg on approving the Project "Strengthening and innovating measurement activities to support Vietnamese businesses in improving their competition and international integration in the period up to 2025, orientation to 2030" (hereinafter referred to as Project 996). Project 996 focuses on supporting businesses in a number of priority industries and fields to effectively apply the measurement guarantee program to improve productivity, quality and competitiveness of products and goods.

To implement Project 996 in Ho Chi Minh City, in 2022 the Department of Science and Technology advised the City People's Committee to issue Decision No. 520/QD-UBND dated February 21, 2022 on the Plan "Increasing Strengthen and innovate measurement activities to support City businesses in improving their competitiveness and international integration in the period up to 2025, with a vision to 2030. In 2024, the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality, as the focal point, presides over the implementation of Project 996 in Ho Chi Minh City, has also advised the City Department of Science and Technology to issue Plan No. 811/KH -SKHCN March 14, 2024 on "Strengthening and innovating measurement activities to support City businesses in improving their competitiveness and international integration in 2024".
