The robot is named Nao. Researchers from University of Freiburg invented this robot. The experiments demonstrated Nao to be able to climb a spiral staircase.

A laser scanner, top range of the robot would provide the position of the robot. Nao would position the stair in 3D to steps on it most accurate. This system gave images of its position to detect slide of the stairs as well as the "bends". And then it provided data for the top system of the robot to implement "a journey" to step on the stairs. However, the robot located and moved quite slow.
