Attending the event, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, Deputy Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, former leaders, leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and departments, wards and communes of the Hoi An city; Mr. Pham Viet Tich, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam Province; Leaders of the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Nam province; Leaders of other departments and branches in Quang Nam province.

After the opening ceremony, Dr. Luong Duc Toan, representative of the consulting firm, reported on the process of establishing the scientific basis and establishing the geographical indication right. The product of bird's nest (bird's nest) was granted a certificate of geographical indication registration by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam "Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An" according to Decision No. 4522 / QD-SHTT dated 23/11/2020 with 3 products include Yen Quan, Yen Thien and Yen Bai. The People's Committee of Hoi An is the organization to manage this geographical indication.

On behalf of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, Deputy Director awarded the Geographical Indication Registration Certificate No. 00091 to Mr. Nguyen The Hung, Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee, representing the geographical indication management organization.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director Nguyen Van Bay congratulated Quang Nam province for having one more key product protected in the form of geographical indication, making Quang Nam one of the localities with many protected geographical indications in Vietnam today. The fact that the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An bird's nest product was granted a geographical indication protection certificate is just the first step, for geographical indication to be effective in the coming time, Hoi An city needs to actively create, focus on consolidating and improve the management of geographical indication, promote the development of the value of protected products to make this geographical indication worthy of a strong national brand; continue to promote the value chain in linking production, actively support resources to consolidate and improve productivity and quality of Salanganes'Nest products - Deputy Director of the Department of Intellectual Property emphasized.

Happy with the local government of the Hoi An City, Mr. Pham Viet Tich, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam province said that the issue of Cu Lao Cham Salanganes'Nest - Hoi An is granted with a protection certificate for geographical indication is a pride, and also attaches to the responsibility of all levels of government and people of the Hoi An City in preserving and promoting reputation and product quality, Mr. Pham Viêt Tich also thanked the NOIP's support, highly appreciated the efforts and close coordination between the Hoi An City People's Committee, related agencies in the province and Institute of Agricultural Soil in the successful construction of geographical indication.

Same day, Hoi An City celebrated the Salanganes'Nest anniversary in 2021 in the exciting atmosphere of the local government, the entire people of Tan Hiep island commune and the delegates attending the Geographical Indication announcement Ceremony.
