Farmers competed smart rice cultivation in the context of climate change
In November 5, in Can Tho City, Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company collaborated with National Center for Agriculture Extension to organize a contest of smart rice cultivation - adaptation to climate change in the Mekong Delta in 2017.


The Mekong Delta has been heavily affected by climate change. Drought, salinity intrusion caused a lot of damage to rice farmers. Therefore, the contest is considered as a useful and practical playground for farmers.

Attending the contest, there are 13 teams from 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta. The competition has three parts for farmers to compete together, including "Farmer talents"; "Farmer Challenge" and "Farmer Expert".

After the competition, Organization Board selected three teams won the third prize, two teams won the second prize and one won the first prize. In which, farmer from Dong Thap province won the highest prize. Speaking at the competition, Mr. Le Quoc Phong - General Director of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company - said that one of the issues that is main concern in agricultural production is the impact of the change climate. Prior to that fact, Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company cooperated with the National Agricultural Extension Center and the agricultural extension center of 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta to implement the program "Smart Rice Cultivation" in 2016 and 2017. The program has implemented 195 models in 13 provinces of the Mekong Delta, with a total area of ​​97.5 ha in 48 communes / towns. Initially, all models brought practical effects in the cultivation of farmers.
