Alum soil improvement measures when planting longan
Most of the arable land in the Mekong Delta is low in calcium, especially in the clay and alum soil. The soil pH is very low, so the longan need to raise the soil pH (also known as soil improvement). Fruit trees in general and longan trees in particular must be improved before planting (improvement of soil pH).

Liming: There are three types of limes, such as limestone powder (CaCO3): made by crushing fine limestone. This type of effect is slow, usually from 2 to 6 months after application depending on the fine powder of stone; Calcined lime (CaO): is produced by calcining the limestone in the kiln as brick at a temperature of about 900-1.000oC. This type is strongest and fastest but easily burns when exposed to water; Ca (OH) 2: produced by irrigating lime with a quantity of water approximately equal to its weight, then lime to powder, heat (about 1500oC) and evaporate, then let cooled and then applied. This lime works quite fast.
How to apply: soil has been planted fruit, so before liming we need to use the hoe, hoe the soil around the tree then sprinkling the lime to irrigate the excess amount of fresh water to wash salt from the bed, fertilize phosphate, animal manure. |
