Applying total quality management is considered to make a "revolution" in enterprise management. Illustration.

In the context of international integration, the role of product and service quality is increasingly important. Quality is also one of the decisive factors in expanding the market of a business.

To achieve the desired quality, proper management is required. Management activities in the field of quality are called quality management. This includes activities intended to direct and control an organization regarding quality. Quality management ensures businesses do the right things. Businesses that want to improve their competitiveness in the international market must learn and effectively apply quality management ideas and tools.

According to the process of developing thinking about quality management, it can be divided into 5 development steps, as follows Quality inspection - Quality control - Quality assurance - Total quality control (TQC-Total Quality Control) - Total Quality Management (TQM-Total Quality Management).

Firstly, quality control is understood as activities, such as measuring, examining, testing or calibrating one or more characteristics of an object and comparing the results with specified requirements to determine the conformity of each characteristic. Thus, product inspection is only classification when the product has been manufactured, that is, inspection when the incident has already happened (mainly at the final stage of the product), so it is very wasteful and expensive even having to deal with substandard products.

The second aspect of quality control is the activities and techniques used to meet quality requirements, through controlling 5 factors/conditions that directly affect the process of creating quality. That is:

Control of people: People must be trained, have enough experiences, and clearly understand their duties and responsibilities for product and service quality. Have all necessary documents, work instructions and enough means to carry out the work to achieve the desired quality.

Controlling suppliers: Choosing suppliers capable of meeting all necessary conditions for producing products and services that satisfy requirements is one of the prerequisites for businesses.

Control equipment used in production and testing: Ensure machines operate well and are safe for operators, without causing environmental pollution.

Information control: All information is censored and issued by competent people; Always update new information and transfer it to necessary locations for use.

The third aspect of quality assurance is related to the relationship between customers and producers, aiming at customer satisfaction. It is all planned and systematic activities carried out within a quality system to ensure quality internally and externally, and etc.
