Developing a research roadmap for sustainable citrus cultivation in Vietnam
A new research initiative funded by ACIAR will explore ways to boost Vietnam's citrus production and exports.
Oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, and lemons account for the highest area and output in fruit production in Vietnam, with 21.47% of the total fruit tree area by 2022.
Vietnam's citrus industry is expanding exports, while the government aims to increase output to 14 million tons by 2025 and 16 million tons by 2030.
Small-scale farmers face many difficulties, such as poor seeds, pests, and fluctuating prices, leading to crop failures and losses.
ACIAR's project supports Vietnam's sustainable development of the citrus industry. The project focuses on multidisciplinary research to overcome current barriers and support sustainable scale-up of the industry. |
